Filbee Kells & Co, Chartered Accountants, has been in existence since 2007.
The business was originally started by Peter Filbee in 1980. Peter has merged and changed his business over the last 30 years, to ensure that clients receive only the very best accounting services. During this time, the practice of Mansvelt & Mulholland was acquired. The office retains links with Henk Mansvelt, who continues to act as a trustee for a number of clients.
Filbee Kells & Co, Chartered Accountants, is based in Hawera, and has a mixed clientele. Filbee Kells & Co do everything from giving professional financial advice to a brand new businesses, to working with established large-scale businesses – both commercial and rural – as well as individuals and investors.
Our experienced accountants and hard-working team offer full income tax, GST and PAYE accounting services.
We currently operate with seven staff, both full and part time as follows:
Peter Filbee, BCA, FCA, CPP

Peter is a qualified CA (Chartered Accountant) with over 35 years in public practice. A member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ) for over 40 years, he was recently recognised by CAANZ for this. Peter is also a Fellow of CAANZ.
With a depth of accumulated accounting and life experience, Peter has expertise in all public practice professional accounting areas. Having practised in Hawera for 38 years, his background knowledge of clients and the regional economy is a strength of the practice.
Hayley Kells, BBS, GradDipCA, CPP

Hayley is a qualified CA (Chartered Accountant) and CAANZ member. She has over 20 years’ experience in a Chartered Accounting environment, with more than half of that time as a team member with this practice.
She has broad accounting experience and expertise in all public practice accounting areas. With her farming background and local knowledge, Hayley is able to help people from all walks of life with their farm or commercial business cashflow and budgeting, solid financial planning for the future and income tax and GST returns.
Tess Annabell, BBS, GradDipCA

Tess has a degree in Science, and a Bachelor of Business Studies degree. She is also a Chartered Accountant with CAANZ.
Tess prepares GST returns, wages, annual accounts and tax returns. Tess has a background in banking and investments both overseas and in New Zealand and is a Xero Certified Advisor.
Tania Elkerton, BBS, CA

Tania is a Chartered Accountant. She has joined us recently and brings several years’ experience in the corporate accounting environment.
Her accounting career during this time included involvement with large scale audit processes. Tania prepares GST returns, annual accounts and tax returns.
Rebecca Mainwaring

Rebecca joined the practice with top marks in Accounting from Hawera High School in 2015 and has recently attained her Bachelor of Accountancy degree. Rebecca holds a Xero Advisor Certification, as well as Xero Payroll Certification.
Rebecca works on GST returns, wages, and general practice and office administration.
Karen Nicholas, BA, AT

Karen joined the practice in 2011, recently completing a Diploma of Business plus her Accounting Technician (AT) qualification through CAANZ.
Karen prepares GST returns, annual accounts and tax returns. Karen has a background in general business administration including 12 years in education management, and holds Banklink and Xero Advisor Certifications.
Bellah King

Bellah joined us in early 2022 as our new receptionist and office administrator. A Hawera local, Bellah is a friendly addition to the Filbee Kells team, and is enjoying learning the ‘accountancy ropes’.
